After 336 episodes and six years behind the mic, The Beauty and the Biz Podcast  just crossed 100,000 downloads — and I couldn’t be more grateful.

When I started this podcast, my goal was simple: to pull back the curtain on the business and marketing side of plastic surgery. Not the procedures — but the marketing, management, staff, leadership, and mindset it takes to run a thriving cosmetic practice.

Hundreds of surgeons have come on to share their stories — from solo entrepreneurs to multi-million-dollar group practices — and the lessons have been priceless.

To celebrate this milestone, I revisited the four most-downloaded episodes of all time. Each one reveals a different side of success in this industry — from exit strategies to scaling with purpose to staying solo and loving it.

Here is a summary of each, as well as the podcast episodes themselves you can listen to in full:

1. Selling but Staying in Your Practice — with Andrew Kaufman, MD (Ep. 210)

Dr. Kaufman, a board-certified dermatologist in Thousand Oaks, CA, built a large practice with multiple physicians, 40 staff, and three offices. Like many surgeons after decades in practice, he began thinking about an exit strategy that made financial and emotional sense.

He eventually sold to Forefront Dermatology — a national private-equity-backed group — yet chose to stay on as an employee. What struck me most was his calm, measured approach. He wasn’t burned out or desperate; he was strategic.

He knew what mattered: protecting his staff, keeping the patient experience consistent, and ensuring the practice stayed stable after the sale.

His advice for others considering a sale was spot-on:

  • Vet potential buyers carefully.
  • Get an attorney and accountant experienced in healthcare M&A.
  • Make sure every important detail is in theLetter of Intent, not “after the fact.”

Dr. Kaufman’s wisdom showed that selling doesn’t have to mean stepping away — it can mean stepping into a new, more secure phase of your professional life.

2. 3K Lip Lifts Plus 300 Facelifts Per Year — with Benjamin Talei, MD (Ep. 212)

Dr. Talei’s episode exploded with downloads — and no surprise why. His energy, creativity, and brutal honesty are inspiring.

In just over eight years, he built one of Beverly Hills’ busiest facial plastic surgery practices, performing more than 3,000 lip lifts and 300 facelifts per year. He did it through a mix of relentless work ethic, artistic precision, and authentic self-promotion.

What makes Dr. Talei stand out isn’t just volume — it’s vision. He created his own technique, the Cupid Lift, opened multiple profit centers, and even designed his lobby around a grand piano because, as he put it, “If I’m going to spend 16 hours a day here, it should inspire me.”

His advice to young surgeons?

Don’t chase what others are doing. Focus obsessively on getting great results, and success will follow.

Dr. Talei is proof that passion, innovation, and personal branding can coexist beautifully in aesthetic medicine.

3. Is a Satellite Office Worth It? — with Sarah Saxon, MD (Ep. 267)

Dr. Saxon is a facial plastic surgeon based in Austin, Texas — and her episode resonated with so many listeners because she shared what most avoid talking about: the real-world costs of expansion.

After opening a thriving main practice, she decided to launch a satellite office in Dallas — a full four hours away. She was transparent about the logistics, staffing challenges, marketing costs, and emotional toll of being stretched between two locations.

Her takeaway? Opening a satellite office can be rewarding, but only if you have the infrastructure, team, and systems to sustain it.

She learned the hard way that growth without boundaries can drain energy and profits. Yet her courage to experiment — and her willingness to share the lessons publicly — made her episode one of the most relatable and valuable to any surgeon considering expansion.

4. One Room, One Woman, $1 Million Gross — with Sinehan Bayrak, MD (Ep. 301)

This episode embodied the spirit of The Beauty and the Biz Podcast — determination, resilience, and smart business strategies is how you win today.

Dr. Bayrak, a plastic surgeon in Pennsylvania, runs a one-woman show — literally. Using technology, strategy and hard work, she runs her practice with ZERO employees, sees every patient herself, and still grosses over $1 million a year.

Her secret? Simplicity, efficiency, and relationships. She focuses on surgical excellence, high patient satisfaction, and word-of-mouth referrals rather than constant new-patient chasing.

Dr. Bayrak reminds all of us that you don’t need a massive team or fancy med spa to succeed. You need systems, focus, and a clear understanding of what your ideal patient wants.

Looking Back — and Ahead

Reaching 100,000 downloads feels surreal. Each conversation has reinforced what I’ve always believed:

Success in aesthetics isn’t about who spends the most on marketing or has the flashiest office. It’s about clarity, consistency, and connection — knowing who you are, what you stand for, and how you serve your patients.

To every surgeon who’s shared their story — thank you. And to every listener who’s tuned in during a commute, workout, or lunch break — I appreciate you more than you know.

Here’s to the next 100,000 downloads and to helping even more surgeons build profitable, sustainable, and enjoyable practices.

P.S. If you’ve never listened to Beauty and the Biz, start with these top four episodes — each one could spark an idea that transforms your practice.
