Attracting Cosmetic Patients Through Social Media

When attracting cosmetic patients through social media platforms it may surprise you to learn that over 75% of individuals check out the social media for plastic surgeons before choosing to interact with the practice.

Finding a practice with a strong internet presence is comforting to prospective cosmetic patients. They can put a ‘face’ to a surgeon and get to the know the staff and office to help them decide if you are the right choice for them.

This will help…

Tips on Attracting Cosmetic Patients Through Social Media

1. Allure Your Target Audience with Hashtags

Using hashtags and creating a relevant community around them is the basis of establishing a solid foundation. Although this tactic works best on Instagram, it may also be used on other platforms, such as Twitter and Pinterest, among other options.

Since Instagram feeds are pretty active, your posts might disappear
fast. However, when you use hashtags to search for fresh material, you may reach a larger audience. Take care not to overuse hashtags. Posts containing more than five hashtags may see a decrease in client interaction.

Think of hashtags as keywords you use to get ranked by Google. Use terms for procedures, trends, before/after photos patient demographics and location to reach a broader audience.

For example:

#plastic surgery
#plastic surgeon
#before/after photos
#austin
#tummytuck

By the way, Instagram allows up to 30 hashtags per post, but too many looks spammy so I recommend 5-10.

2. Engage With Consumer Groups and Your Community

A great way to build your audience is through groups that contain your preferred patient demographics.

Search for them on Instagram using hashtags and then like, comment, and follow users who have audiences most likely interested in your services.

Female Demographics

Offer to be a guest on their live feeds to answer questions about cosmetic rejuvenation and/or be their resource for all things involving plastic surgery so you are their “go-to” resource.

The point is to give to get. Offer relevant and interesting commentary so you are seen as an authority and that encourages the audience to check out your own social media to learn more about you. This is another way attracting cosmetic patients through social media.

Examples include: Mommy groups, women in business groups and local philanthropic groups.

3. User Generated Content (UGC)

UGC is free word-of-mouth advertising and a great approach to win over cosmetic prospective patients

Create content that is so informative, fun, and/or compelling, your followers can’t help but comment on.

I recommend a mix of all of it, so you don’t get branded as only “the funny doc” or “the dancing doc”. Do educational FAQ videos and address typical objections you hear. Then fun videos with the staff and include your dog and home life, since audiences love to comment on your personal side…

4. Use High Quality Images and Video

Since most platforms rely on visual content, invest in high-quality videos and photos to promote and exhibit your work. Use real patients, good lighting and great video editing to present the greatest possible impression of your plastic surgery results.

For example, I highly recommend getting comfortable asking your patients if you can interview them at their final post-op appointment to share their experience with you on video. You only need a minute to ask them what the journey was like, and let them show off their results while talking about how great they feel.

Lastly, refresh your staff’s look so the whole team looks cohesive and professional. They have come a long way from the cheap-looking scrubs of the past so find a color and look that fits you best:
