Vinaya Rednam, MD, explains how her focused niche built a 106K-follower IG account for her multi-location partnership.
Hello, and welcome to “Beauty and the Biz,” where we’ll discuss the business and marketing side of plastic surgery.
As always, I’m your host, Catherine Maley, author of “Your Aesthetic Practice – What Your Patients Are Saying.” and consultant to plastic surgeons, helping them get more patients and more profits.
A Focused Niche Built a 106K-Follower IG Account — Vinaya Rednam, MD — she relies on a focused niche and authentic patient stories. Furthermore, she uses a system that keeps social media from consuming her.
Notably, Dr. Vinaya Rednam is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon in Houston. Specifically, she specializes in post-massive-weight-loss surgery.
Additionally, she has built a personal brand that attracts the patients she most wants to treat.
Remarkably, even inside a large multi-surgeon practice run by private equity, Dr. Rednam builds her brand. Moreover, she maintains her own website, social media presence and staff.

Consequently, that decision has paid off in several ways:
First, most of her leads now come through social media.
Second, her Instagram following has grown to 106,000.
Third, her “Confidence Doc” podcast has nearly 90 episodes.
Finally, the “Confidence Doc” podcast ranks in the top 10 for plastic surgery on Apple and Spotify.
However, her strongest marketing advantage remains her niche. Usually, one post-weight-loss patient may need several procedures over several years. Furthermore, these patients often share their journeys with highly engaged online communities.
Therefore, Dr. Rednam uses patient interviews, transformation videos and professional photo shoots. Ultimately, these tools help prospective patients see what is possible.
Additionally, she hired a personal assistant to organize, edit and publish her content. Consequently, social media no longer consumes her time.
Curiously, what is her best pearl of wisdom? Assuredly, nothing connects with a prospective patient like hearing someone else validate their experience. Specifically, they want to hear someone say, “That’s exactly how I feel.”
Ultimately, in a saturated market, being more specific and more authentically yourself can help immensely. Therefore, this approach can make you far easier to find and remember.
